The Pipe & Glass Inn (Restaurant)

Dating back to the 15th century, the Pipe & Glass Inn stands on the site of the original gatehouse to Dalton Park, still the residence of Lord Hotham. It was here that some of the visitors to the 'great house' were offered hospitality and lodgings during their stay. The old gatehouse was eventually replaced by the present building, part of which is 17th century.
James and Kate took over The Pipe & Glass Inn in March 2006, and undertook a full refurbishment. The bar has kept a country pub feel, while the restaurant has been transformed into a warm, welcoming, more contemporary area, with bespoke wooden tables made to James and Kate’s specifications, and a conservatory area looking out over the garden and housing a spectacular long table seating up to 24 for those of you with lots of friends! There is also plenty of room for dining outside.
Chef-proprietor James is committed to sourcing as much local and seasonal produce as possible – but first and foremost, it’s quality that counts. The menu, which includes vegetarian options, changes regularly and if there’s something you’d like that’s not on there, please ask, and James and his chefs will do their best to make it for you. We can also cater for special dietary needs with prior notice. Children are welcome, and we are happy to provide half-portions of anything on the menu, or will try to provide anything your child might like off-menu.
The wine list is sourced entirely from small producers, so there is a story behind every one of our bins. We also offer a wide selection of regularly changing hand-pulled ales including ‘Old Rosie’ hand-pulled cider and guest beers from the Copper Dragon, Wold Top and Garton Breweries. Our resident beer is John Smith’s Cask.
