This very individual hotel was founded by Richard and Christine Oxtoby in 1965. The family and staff continue to offer friendly professional service in a 'country house hotel' atmosphere. The Hotel was formerly two
private houses which were built during the reign of William the Fourth.
Every bedroom has its own character; there are gracious suites, others have dressing rooms, some have magnificent four-posters and four Garden suite rooms lead onto the gardens.
Set within The Mount Royale Hotel in York - two beautiful William IV detached houses built in 1833 - our unique location just off the beaten track allows for elegant dining yet within an open and friendly setting.
