Lainston House HotelWelcome to Lainston House Hotel and to the perfect Christmas and New Year celebrations that are simply a world away from the ordinary. Every detail is taken care of effortlessly, leaving you free to relax, whether it’s just the two of you, a group of friends or a festive family gathering.

Lainston House is a charming 17th century house, elegantly framed by stone archways and loggias and blessed stunning countryside views – picture perfect with a sprinkling of snow! It’s also home to not only the outstanding 3 AA Rosette Avenue Restaurant but Hampshire Food & Drink’s ‘Chef of the Year 2007’ and the UK’s Chocolate Master 2007 too… the most qualified team to serve the finest of festive feasts!

Christmas at Lainston is about the luxury of quality time together. It’s about time to take a stroll down the mile-long avenue of lime trees, enjoy leisurely meals so often hurried at home, relax in front of the open fire with a book in the Drawing Room, or setting out to discover the history of Winchester on your doorstep.

Four nights Christmas package

Christmas Eve
You’re invited to arrive at your leisure… the hotel is beautifully decorated for the festive season and the huge open fireplace will warm you as you step into the hotel lobby and leave the everyday world behind.

• Check-in from 3.00pm
• From 3.00pm: traditional afternoon tea with a Christmassy twist
• 7.00pm: an opportunity to meet fellow guests over champagne and canapés before sitting down to a four-course gourmet dinner with wines to match
• 10.45pm: for those who wish, transport to Winchester Cathedral and mulled wine and mince pies on your return

Christmas Day
Start the day at your leisure with a traditional country house breakfast and indulge in the thought of a Christmas Day when you don’t have to lift a finger.

• Full English breakfast served in the Avenue Restaurant
• 12 noon: the pleasure of your company is requested in the Drawing Room for hot roasted chestnuts and a glass of champagne
• 12.45pm: enjoy a traditional five-course Christmas lunch, exquisitely prepared using the finest, freshest local ingredients with wines to match
• Christmas afternoon is all about rest and relaxation – watching television, perhaps savouring a fine malt whisky in the Cedar Bar or joining us for that time-honoured seasonal custom of the Queen’s speech… with tea and cake!
• 8.00pm: a light yet sumptuous buffet will be served with our resident pianist playing traditional favourites

Boxing Day
After the leisurely indulgence of Christmas Day, Boxing Day is typically a time for activity and working off excesses...

• Full English breakfast served in the Avenue Restaurant
• Morning: wrap up warm for the challenge of clay pigeon shooting and archery in the grounds with steaming hot chocolate and delicious marshmallows
• 12.30pm: reception drinks are followed by an superb three-course lunch
• A dazzling evening in our Dawley Barn themed ‘All That Glitters’ begins with a drinks reception at 7.00pm and continues with a mouth-watering four-course dinner with specially selected wines and dancing into the early hours to a live band.

27th December

• Full English breakfast in the Avenue Restaurant
• 12.30pm: tempting lunch dishes
• From 3.00pm: afternoon tea is once again served in the Drawing Room
• From 7.00pm: complete your festive stay with dinner

Christmas Day lunch

• Join us in the 17th century Dawley Barn from 12 noon to enjoy the sparkle of champagne and mingle with fellow diners before sitting down to a traditional five-course Christmas lunch with wines to match each fabulous course

And, as Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a visit from Santa Claus, keep an eye out for an appearance of the man himself bearing a gift for one and all from Lainston House Hotel.

Christmas Party Nights

Numerous dates available throughout November, December and January – just ask us for availability and we will do the rest!

For groups of friends, colleagues or clients whether it’s just the two of you or a much larger group of 60 or more - join in the fun and enjoy a mouth-watering three-course Christmas supper menu with plenty of crackers and party poppers before disco dancing ‘til midnight.

£44.50 per person Sunday to Thursday and £54.50 Fridays and Saturdays including room hire, three-course dinner with coffee, crackers, hats and novelties and disco until midnight.

New Year Package

Say goodbye to the Old Year and welcome in 2009 in the luxurious, elegant and vibrant style that is New Year at Lainston House Hotel.

Tuesday 30th December
Arrive at your leisure and meet friends old and new over a decadent afternoon tea, then settle into your luxurious room or suite.

New Year’s Eve…
Wednesday 31st December

• Clay pigeon shooting and archery competitions during the day
• 8pm: the final evening of 2008 is heralded by a drinks reception, an opportunity to meet fellow party guests over champagne and canapés and the perfect prelude to a spectacular six-course dinner with carefully chosen wines to match and live music. As a single piper proclaims the arrival of 2009 in time honoured fashion, toast your good fortune and keep on dancing through ‘til one.
• Alternatively, join the black tie event in the Dawley Barn with champagne followed by a five-course dinner and a DJ to keep you on your toes until the early hours.

New Year’s Day
Thursday 1st January
Start 2009 with a late breakfast or a leisurely brunch or perhaps a Bloody Mary. You’re welcome to stay as long as you like, but politely ask if you could vacate your room by 11.00am.
