The Hope Anchor is a mid 18th Century Hotel built at the end of one of the most delightful streets in Rye. The building originally would have housed a Smugglers gang thought to have been “The Tenterden”, a nasty motley crew! Pistols at the ready and regular fights for territory with other local smuggling gangs including the infamous Hawkhurst, legend has it that on one occasion the Tenterden gang famously out gunned the Hawkhurst gang and they scurried hurriedly back to their watering hole! Most of the secret passage ways and escape routes are now blocked in but once here, it doesn’t take a lot of imagination to realise what it was like in those dark and exciting days!
Although famous for its past, the Hope Anchor is known locally for its quality of service and food, it's stunning views across the Quayside, Romney Marshes and beyond to the sea.

Three nights Christmas package
Enjoy your Christmas Break at the Hope Anchor Hotel which dates back to the mid 18th Century. We are open through out the festive season and offering three night full board Christmas breaks, Christmas and Boxing Day lunch, Christmas party nights and New Year Dinner Dance packaes. Once you arrive on Christmas Eve we'll take care of you with a warm welcome, a beautifully decorated hotel, music gently playing in the background and scattered bowls of chocolates to dip in to. All your meals are included in your stay and the only thing to decide will be what time to eat and how much you can handle! The Hope Anchor is the ideal country retreat to relax in, it overlooks the harbour and Romney marsh and is positioned perfectly to explore the old town with cobbled streets and crooked cottages. We look forward to seeing you this Christmas and New Year!
Christmas Day lunch
Join us for Christmas day lunch, we have two sittings 12.00pm and 2.30pm and start both with a glass of bubbly and canapes. Five traditional Christmas courses follow, finishing with coffee and mince pies. Our restaurant is traditionaly decorated, with crackers on every place setting and a christmas tree standing proudly in the corner. Children are welcome and under 10 years old are charged at half price. Bookings are still available although limited. Please specify your preferred sit down time when booking. Boxing Day lunch
Come and relax in our restaurant and enjoy a two or three course lunch from our house menu or mix it with our Winter Sea food menu including; Fresh Grilled sardines, Moules Mariniere or pan fried scallops & Smoked bacon. Our harbour view restaurant does exactly what it says, just look out the window to see the harbour, Romney Marshes and to the distant the blue sparkle of the sea. We provide a proffesional but relaxed style of service where everyone is welcome! Our Restaurant is open to non residents and is open from 12pm to 2:30pm. Reservations
Christmas Party Nights
Christmas party nights at the Hope Anchor start from the 1st December until 22nd December inclusive, providing good honest fun with a few drinks, a few friends and a hearty Christmas fare. Ask about spending the night for only £65 per couple including breakfast when booked with a Christmas party! Come and join in the fun! Company bookings catered for with a maximum of 40 people, no minimum required. Our restaurant is open from 7pm to 9pm, pre-book reservations only.
New Year Package
The Hope Anchor is a charming family run small country hotel set in the heart and at the top of medieval Rye. The hotel has a snug bar, lounge, restaurant and 15 bedrooms each with individual character and amazing views across the marsh or over the rooftops of the ancient town. All our rooms are en-suite and have digital TV, direct dial phones, tea and coffee making facilities and comprise four posters, deluxe, king size and twins. Wifi Internet connection is available at the hotel. Our traditional two night New Year's Eve Break enables you to relax and enjoy this special time of the year in the company of friends and family. Included in the price is bed and breakfast on both days, a five course dinner and dance on New Years Eve with a disco and a glass of champagne to see in the New Year!
New Year Dinner and Dance
The Hope Anchor is a charming family run small country hotel set in the heart of medieval Rye. Enjoy a five course candlelit dinner in the Harbour View restaurant with a glass of champagne to see out the Old Year and welcome in the New Year. There will be entertainment throughout the evening by a local DJ. Our restaurant is open to non residents from 7pm to 9pm, pre-book reservations only.

Bed and Breakfast only
If you are looking to have a Christmas party with us, take advantage of our excellent Bed and Breakfat deals throughout the Festive Season. Our festive season always starts on 1st December with Local people and Companies enjoying them selves with our Christmas Party nights! Whenever a local or Company books a Christmas/Office party with us, we always offer a discounted Bed and Breakfast rate, so no matter 'how well' the evening goes they are always in good hands until the next morning. Our breakfast's will set anyone up for a great day no matter how they started it!
