This historic 15th Century Coaching Inn is situated in the picturesque Market Town of Stony Stratford 'The Town on The Road', Buckinghamshire. Just on the outskirts of Milton Keynes.
The Cock Hotel rose to national pre-eminence in the great age of coach travel, with as many as 100 coaches a day coming into the Town. The Hotel was the official staging post for the famous Manchester Flier. An original timetable shows that the Flier left London at 8.30am, arriving in Manchester at 5.10am the next day with a 25 minute stop here at the Cock Hotel for dinner. Other travellers staying at the Hotel and the adjacent Bull, vied with each other in the telling of outrageous 'tales of the road', from whence the famous phrase a Cock and Bull Story derives.
The en-suite facilities in our 31 bedrooms include TV, iron & board (available on request), hair dryer (not available in all rooms), tea & coffee facilities.
The Cock Hotel is also the perfect venue for both conferences, private functions and weddings, with the choice of two separate function rooms and a lovely walled courtyard.
We are also licensed to hold civil wedding ceremonies.
For country lovers, the town offers a bird reserve and rural life museum. To the south is Woburn Abbey and wildlife park. To the west is Stowe with the best landscaped British gardens (seasonal) for follies. For shoppers and indoor skiers, Milton Keynes is only 5 miles away. For those of you looking for life in the fast lane - Silverstone Race Circuit is also nearby.
